Black Foam EPDM Rubber Extrusion For Windows , Rubber Sponge Extrusion ROHS FDA

Foam strip is manufactured and supplied in various different grades dependent upon its eventual application. More common foam strip products are produced in Neoprene Strip, EPDM Strip, Neoprene Sponge Strip, PVC foam Strip, Polythene (PE) Strip, Acoustic Foam Strip, Expanding Foam Tape, High Temperature Silicone Strip as well as Silicone Strip.

With the introduction of two brand new slitting machines in March 2009 and December 2011, it has enabled us to be even more versatile, now being able to supply foam strip in widths from 3mm up to 1000mm, and thicknesses from 1.5mm right up to 40mm. With most base materials being held in stock, the vast majority of requirements can be turned around immediately. Standard thicknesses of foam strip products we are able to manufacture include 1.5mm, 2mm, 2.5mm, 3mm, 4mm, 5mm, 10mm, 12mm, 15mm, 20mm, 25mm 30mm and 40mm thick.

Expanded rubber (solid rubber that has been blown trapping air bubbles within its cell structure), known more commonly as foam or sponge is available in strip or coil formats and can give many advantages including gap filling, air and water sealing, draught and dust solutions, cushioning, thermal insulation, sound deadening, water filtration as well as proving excellent resolutions to both packing and filling problems.

Our foam strip products are available in a wide range of grades, colours and densities. Low, medium and high density foam strips are all manufactured by our Company. UL94 VO silicone strip is readily available for applications in London Underground.

Sponge strip is also available and manufactured in any given length. Foam strip or coil, by its nature, can either portray an open cell structure designed for air and water filtration, and sound and noise reduction purposes or a closed cell structure for heat insulation and water absorption prevention. What’s more, a self adhesive backing can be applied to any foam strip product we manufacture.

Available in almost and given length and width, our foam strip products can be tailored to suit any application. Our foam strip products are available in square section, sheet, roll, strip, or coil formats. Furthermore, any foam based strip product we supply can have a peel away adhesive backing applied to it in order to aid in sealing/bonding applications as well as helping in certain applications as a third had fixing when clamping down onto it. When an adhesive backing is applied to either foam strip or rubber strip it becomes more commonly known as foam tape or rubber tape.

Foam and Rubber Strip manufactured sealing tape is based on a diffusion-open material, which renders high resistance to wind and weather as well as UV-light, and simultaneously reduces the risk of rot and fungal attacks on adjacent building materials.

Our sealing tape is a high-quality product, which to a vast extent benefits the environment, both in production and application. Applications include the following:- Sealing of gaps between window/door frame and brickwork, sealing between concrete sections, sealing between sill and embrasure, sealing of double casement windows, sealing of sky-lights and roof-lights, sealing of roof construction, insulation against noise and vibration in connection with ventilation and climate installation, insulation against noise and vibration within the caravan and park home industry, insulation in connection with window installation.

Dependent upon its grade, foam strip, as compared to solid rubber strip, has the advantage of possessing a little compression, lending itself to sealing two surfaces and creating a water and air tight seal. It is a fair assumption that foam strip will compress to about half of its original thickness under compression, however, this will obviously depend upon the density of the foam chosen and the weight load being placed upon it.

Frequently used within the glazing, and construction trades, it enables sealing to take place through its compression. However, foam strip is also an excellent solution to thermal and acoustic problems and due to its cell structure means it is very much a multifaceted product. Most foam strip is supplied in a black colour; however certain grades of neoprene, polyethylene and EPDM are also available in white, blue, and red. Please feel free to ask a member of our sales team for more information on this.

Grades of foam strip are readily available for any required application and include medical, food, fire and flame retardant variants, LSOH, water, UL94 VO, chemical grades and many more. Please ask one of our sales team members which grade of material is most suitable for your specific application.

Expanding foam tape is also manufactured by our Company. This revolutionary product is normally used within the construction trades where the open cell polyurethane foam strip base material is pre-compressed until application and fully expands its to gap fill evenly between wooden window frames.

The main purpose of this product is to allow fresh air to circulate into the window whilst at the same repel water and driving rain from entering ultimately irradiating dry rot. It is fair to say that expanding foam tape expands up to five times its original compressed state. Expanding foam tape is a pre-compressed sealant made of impregnated permanently elastic fine cell PU foam which expands evenly and slowly to provide a seal against wind and driving rain, draughts, dust and gaps. It is an ideal solution for sealing against surfaces with irregular patterns expanding to fill the gap up to its expansion rate. Our rolls of expanding foam tape come with a self adhesive backing and from widths of 10mm right up to 1000mm rolls, and thicknesses ranging from 3mm, 5mm, 6mm, 10mm etc.

We often get asked the question as to what is the difference between EPDM Foam / EPDM Sponge and Neoprene Foam / Neoprene Sponge. Outlined below are the general reasons as to which material is best suited to a specific application. Briefly though, closed cell EPDM foam and closed cell Neoprene foam look very similar to one another and are both used in a variety of our gaskets and sealing strips throughout a multitude of industrial sectors.

EPDM foam strips are generally thought as to possessing better resistance to water and weathering applications, whereas Neoprene foam is better suited not only to both of these attributes but has a good resistance to sealing against oil and many petroleum derivatives and chemicals. Both are a relatively cheap way of sealing however, Neoprene foam is generally perceived as the slightly more expensive option compared to EPDM foam. Both materials portray excellent value for money and have incredible ageing credentials with neither going brittle over time.

EXPANDED CLOSED CELL NEOPRENE SPONGE / FOAM STRIP

Neoprene Strip – A common closed cell expanded material we supply a vast majority of our foam strip in is neoprene foam. A general purpose material, neoprene foam strip has many attributes including its suitability for weathering. Due to the superb air tight and water tight characteristics of expanded neoprene foam it is generally used within the automotive, electronics and construction trades. It makes it a very good material for jointing expansion, weather strips, glazing and closure seals as well as shock absorbers and cushioning. Our foam strip products are also widely used throughout the vintage car and marine industries.

Neoprene foam strip / Neoprene sponge strip or coil properties also make it a suitable choice of materials for requirements including thermal insulation on items such as garage door seals. With a respectable temperature range of -20 C / +90 C expanded neoprene strip lends itself as an ideal solution to a multitude of indoor and outdoor solutions. Neoprene, a trade name for Dupont’s Polychloroprene is blown and expanded to form an expanded state. This means it is an excellent choice to be used for any irregularity that may occur in construction. It is an excellent choice for gap filling and will not allow anything to pass through it’s closed cell structure.

Furthermore, due to the extraordinary aging properties of closed cell neoprene foam it means that the sealing strip role will not fail over prolonged exposure on a specific application. Neoprene’s properties make it advisable to use in most requirements where temperatures and/or oils or greases need to be stopped from transfering through to a mating surface. Sealing strips commonly made out of neoprene sponge are extremely durable and with its slight compression allows the material to be squeezed or moulded into nearly any gap or vent immediately stopping any inflow of air or water. Higher grades of neoprene sponge strip are also available with fire retardant ratings and class O approval.

Our neoprene sponge strips are not only available in cut section, and are commonly available to buy in sheet or roll formats. Neoprene foam / neoprene sponge is available to by as neoprene foam sheet / neoprene sponge sheet or neoprene sponge roll / neoprene foam roll if required.

Dependent upon grade and density of neoprene foam chosen certain benefits include:

  • Closed cell structure making it impermeable to air and water and therefore an ideal material for sealing against air and/or water.
  • Outstanding aging properties and will not go brittle over time.
  • Very durable and relatively cheap.
  • Flexible material.
  • Good UV, ozone, sunlight and oxidation resilience.
  • Flame retardant.
  • Good resistance to oil and many petroleum derivatives and chemicals.

EXPANDED CLOSED CELL EPDM SPONGE / FOAM STRIP

A common material we supply our foam strip products in is EPDM foam. EPDM foam strip is generally used for water resistance purposes in components such as roofing applications, weather stripping, and window sealing etc where good resistance to ozone and weathering is of paramount importance. Thicknesses of our standard EPDM foam strip range from 1.5mm, 2mm, 3mm, 4mm, 5mm, 6mm,10mm,12mm, 20mm and 25mm.

Due to the fantastic air and water tight characteristics of our EPDM foam strip / EPDM sponge strip and coil products, it is mainly used within the automotive, electronic and construction trades. It is also a very good material for jointing expansion, weather strips, glazing and closure seals as well as shock absorbers and cushioning. Available in various grades and densities including low, medium and high, EPDM foam strip / EPDM sponge strip is a multifaceted material.

Furthermore, we are able to offer certain EPDM strip products in a grade that can take temperatures up to 128°C as well as a semi open cell structure if needed. Standard, medium density EPDM foam strip shows a good temperature prevail of -30 C to +120 C, again lending itself to a multitude of sealing solutions both indoor and outdoor. Common products supplied in our Closed Cell EPDM Sponge include mouse mats and lighting sealing strips and other general deadening solutions where harmful liquids and/or substances aren’t readily present. Our EPDM foam / EPDM sponge is also available to by as EPDM foam / sponge sheet or EPDM sponge / foam roll if required.

Dependant on the grade of EPDM foam chosen certain benefits include:

  • Closed cell structure making it impermeable to air and water and therefore an ideal material for sealing against air and/or water.
  • Outstanding ageing properties and will not go brittle over time.
  • Very durable and relatively cheap.
  • Available in a wide range – high temperature, hard, soft, super soft.
  • Good UV resistance.
  • Good mechanical properties.
  • Wide temperature range.

A more expensive material designed to deal with challenging applications where temperature prevails of -40 / +200 C are required. Often used on items such as ovens, cookers, and light lens fittings. Available in grey and white colours as standard, but we do offer a colour match scheme on larger quantities. Smooth skin appearance.

Flame retardant low smoke/low toxic silicone strips are also manufactured where required and are principally supplied to the London Underground, where the risk of fire spreading must be prohibited. In compliance to gas, smoke as well as fire safety standards, this particular silicone are self extinguishing and won’t emit harmful gases when ignited. With a temperature prevail of -60c to +250c, and fully compliant to UL94 V-0 regulations where public safety is of supreme significance, this bespoke silicone can be manufactured into silicone strip products to provide high temperature sealing solutions for numerous applications. Our silicone foam is also available to by as silicone sheet or silicone roll if required.

Nitrile/PVC blend strip is also manufactured by our Company. Nitrile/PVC has a good temperature prevail of -40 / +140 C. Its closed cell structure makes it impermeable to air and water and an ideal solution for sealing against air and water flow and higher temperatures. With superb heat absorption, a good resistance to oil, most acids, UV and weathering, nitrile/Pvc strip is also Class O fireproof rated. Nitrile / PVC foam is a slightly softer grade of foam ideal for cushioning and lagging purposes, but displays a poor compression set.

PVC Foam Strip is also manufactured by our Company. PVC Foam sealing strip is an excellent choice of material for applications against the sealing of water and protection against UV. Traditionally used throughout the glazing industry, but suitable for a whole host of other applications.

Polyethylene foam strip is also manufactured by our Company. Having a closed cell cross linked cell structure it again makes it impermeable to both air and water flow. A lightweight and relatively cheap material offering strong rigidity and tear strength. Good thermal insulation and mechanical properties and available in various densities and colours dependant on application. Smooth skin appearance. More common requirements for polyethylene foam sheeting include swimming pool and garden pond covers.
